Rock Soul artist from Amsterdam releases his new CD
On the seventh of October Amsterdam based Peter Corn releases his new CD Tender Surrender. All songs of the album are written by Corn. Production is done bij Hans Eijkenaar & Meg. Eijkenaar and his band, who arranged the album ass well, further this year also arranged the critically acclaimed CD of Dutch Rock artist Anouk.
Soul with a touch of Rock
First single of the album is Assholes not allowed, a funky rock song with a positive vibe. The style of the CD is best described ass soul with a touch of rock and blues. Uptempo swampy rock songs as Father of Love and Shotgun, which has nasty dark guitar fills, are followed by soulful blues ballads as Song For the Lonely Men and You Hurt Me. The album also contains the song If You Long For Me, a soul stirring duet with Lucretia vd Vloot.
Peter Corn started his career as a singer/songwriter of the Alfredo Brothers, and so earned his name of “the white singer with the dark brown voice”. The Alfredo brothers, one of the first Amsterdam soul bands to write and produce there own material, were successful in the Dutch club circuit. In 1992 Corn set up the Peter Corn Band, doing his 2 own material. His characteristic sound – a mixture of swinging Funk, Soul and rhythm&blues, mixed with his soulful gospy vocals, got him positive reviews. This resulted in opening shows for soul artists such as Maceo Parker, Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke.
This year Peter started his solo career with the release of his new CD Tender Surrender. Concerts are being planned in the last quarter of the year.
